1. What position are you running for?	Washington State Senator, District 12

2. Why do you think Hispanics should know about the position you are running for?	There are 49 different legislative districts in the State of Washington. Each district elects two representatives to the House of Representatives and one senator to the Senate. Both the House and the Senate comprise the legislative branch of state government. The legislative branch approves the two-year state budgets of the state and approves and amends other state laws.
3. Why are you running for this position?	I was raised in the Wenatchee Valley, received my entire K-12 education here, and absolutely love this district. I love the people here, the outdoor recreation opportunities, and our overall quality of life. Over the years, this community has given so much to me. I feel led to continue to give back to our community through my public service. I am proud of my service here, which includes ten years on two local school boards and four years in the Legislature. I believe that my help has already made a difference for future generations, but I still have many years left to give. It has been a privilege serving as our State Representative for the last four years. I would be honored to continue serving as our next State Senator.
4. For the Hispanic community, what do you view to be the most important agenda items you will take action on if you get elected?	Within the scope of State of Washington policymaking, I believe the Latino voters will be most interested in issues related to jobs, economy, family, healthcare, and education. Like all voters, they want to make sure their families have a promising future. Washington State invests 48 percent of its budget on K-12 education and additional amounts into higher education. Education is a tremendous opportunity for all families to lift their kids up, provide them with a better future, and prepare them to succeed in our 21st Century economy. Before being elected to the Legislature, I served for 10 years on two different local school boards, the North Central Educational Service District Board and the Eastmont School Board. I served for multiple years as the Eastmont School Board President. I worked hard to help all students succeed and maximize their potential. My work in our schools helped improve opportunities for generations of students, including the rapidly increasing percentage of Latino students in our schools.
5. Any additional message you wish to share with the Hispanic Voter?	My goal as State Representative – and I will continue it as State Senator – will be to represent all of our district. We have a very diverse area, geographically, economically, and culturally. We are strongest when we work together, grow together, and help each other. I want our diverse populations of function together as one community and I want the different areas of the state to function together as one Washington. Latino voters care about good schools, healthy economy, and equal opportunities. They have incredible work ethics, enjoy our local parks, and are very family focused. 5. Tiene algun mensaje especial que desee compartir con los votantes Hispanos?	Mi objetivo como Representante Estatal – que seguier como senador estatal – será representar a todos de nuestro distrito. Tenemos un área muy diversa, desde el punto de vista geográfico, económico y cultural. Somos más fuertes cuando trabajamos juntos, crecemos juntos y nos ayudamos mutuamente. Queremos que nuestra diversa poblacion funcine junta como una comunidad y quiero las diferentes áreas del estado funcionen juntas como un solo Washington.
